Google and My.Games launch mobile accelerator program

Game Drive will start with EMEA and Russia focus, plans to expand to more territories over the course of 2021

Google and My.Games Venture Capital are partnering on an accelerator program called Game Drive for mobile games studios and projects.

The two companies today announced that they are beginning the program with a first wave that will be open to studios in Western Europe, Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States region, Turkey, Israel, the Middle East, and Africa.

The plan is for Game Drive to expand to further territories throughout 2021.

The program is asking applicants for product and user acquisition metrics, so interested developers need to have games that have already soft launched at least.

Projects can be submitted until Friday, January 8, at which point a panel of Google and My.Games employees will choose a shortlist of titles to participate in an online demo day later in the month, where they will receive feedback in English.

Beyond feedback and consulting on projects, developers selected for Game Drive will receive access to My.Games internal training projects, a Google evaluation of the project with an emphasis on international launches, and possibly investment from My.Games.

"Mobile game development is an extremely competitive market and an idea alone is often not enough to acquire users," said My.Games CSO Ilya Karpinsky. "By launching this accelerator and building a partnership with Google, we hope to provide an unprecedented programme for mobile game developers across Europe by providing support and expertise from two of the largest players in the market."
