Hollyoaks star Paul Danan's cause of death confirmed as inquest opens

The actor was found unresponsive at his flat in Brislington in January

An inquest into the death of Hollyoaks star Paul Danan has opened today.

The hearing at Avon Coroner's Court heard that the actor and reality TV star died at the age of 46 from a cocktail of drugs including heroin, cocaine and codeine.


Coroner's officer Alexis Camp confirmed the primary cause of death as 'combined toxicity of heroin, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, cocaine and zopiclone, with a secondary contributory finding of benzodiazepine', Bristol Live reports.


The coroner's hearing on Tuesday morning was told that Mr Danan was found unresponsive at his flat in Bath Road, Brislington, on January 15.

Paramedics and police attended at around 5.20pm, the hearing heard. Mr Danan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Danan was formally identified to paramedics and police by his partner Melissa Crooks at the scene.

Avon coroner Marie Voisin adjourned the inquest to receive detailed reports and pencilled in a date of May 28 for a full hearing.

The actor played Hollyoaks bad boy Sol Patrick from 1997 to 2001 and was later known for his reality TV appearances, including on Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Love Island.
